When Jen from Adventurous Moms “nominated” me to take part in the Hostelbookers 7 Super Shots game I read her post, enjoyed her photographs, then promptly and conveniently “forgot” about it.
Next Debi at Go Explore Nature “suggested” I play along too.
While I got away with not playing the first time I cannot ignore this suggestion a second time so here goes.
You would think with all the photos I take I would be able to choose 7 photos that fit the predetermined categories. This is not the case. I had the hardest time sorting and deciding what to use. Sometimes too many choices makes for difficult decision-making. So I went with a theme.
Nature in Orange County, California.
Nature in Orange County is awesome, abundant, and diverse. Nature is easy to find here since it surrounds us.
1. A photo that takes my breath away
While hiking in Fremont Canyon on the Irvine Ranch Conservancy several springs ago I looked back and saw this awesome view of Irvine Lake and the surrounding land. This is Orange County at its finest!
2. A photo that makes me laugh or smile
You cannot see the girls faces in this picture, but it is fun to imagine the smiles and awe in their eyes as they check out this swim hole we hiked to in Silverado Canyon. When I posted this last year people questioned whether this was Hawaii and when I told them this is an Orange County swim hole they could not believe it.
3. A photo that makes me dream
I love trees and my two absolute favorite types are oaks and sycamores. Sycamore leaves in the fall are delightful, colorful, and enchanting. I wish I could lay down on a blanket under this tree, look up and dream my worries away.
4. A photo that makes me think
This is perhaps my favorite photo of the bunch. When I look at it I see four little adventurers and picture them as young adults, still friends, and on some grand journey. Salt Creek beach is in south Orange County. The sea grass on the rocks is what does it for me.
5. A photo that makes my mouth water
Naturally, I should have showcased a food photo here, but I did not have any mouth-watering edible plant shots. Kidding.
However, the dry grass at Riley Wilderness Park we hiked through one warm day reminds me of being parched and thirsty. Don’t forget to bring water on your hikes.
6. A photo that tells a story
I could not include a shot of Orange County without including one sunset worthy shot. We saw an awesome sunset during a winter walk in Laguna Beach. The day was so warm that no one wanted to stay inside. Families and friends littered the beach. People walked on the sand, near the water, and in the water.
I wonder what these people in the photo are saying or thinking. I like to think they all forgot about their problems for a few minutes.
7. A photo that I am most proud of (aka my worthy of National Geographic shot)
While walking back from the weather station in Fremont Canyon the suns rays hit the hikers and illuminated them on this cloudy day. Spring time in Orange County is an awe-inspiring event everyone should experience.
Part of the Hostelbooker 7 super shots fun is to nominate other bloggers. While I realize not everyone wants to take part or you may have already been nominated I just want you to know you came to mind when I was thinking about wonderful bloggers.
What is your favorite Orange County landscape? Beach or park?

I’m so glad you finally decided to share & I love that you picked a theme. You have showcased the beauty that is Orange County nature. I love it!
